Help Us Save Wildlife: Citizen Science Roadkill Monitoring Across Botswana

We are currently conducting a nationwide citizen science project to document and better understand wildlife roadkill across Botswana. Every year, countless wild animals are killed on our roads, posing a serious threat to both biodiversity and human safety.

The goal of this study is to identify roadkill hotspots and the species most affected so we can develop targeted strategies to reduce collisions and make our roads safer for both people and wildlife.

We need your help! If you come across roadkill, please report it by sending:

  • Species identification (if known)

  • A clear photo

  • GPS coordinates or location description

You can report sightings via:

  • WhatsApp: (+267) 76 891 113

  • Email: roadkillbotswana@gmail.com

  • iNaturalist: Search and submit to our project “Botswana Wildlife Roadkill Study”.

Every report counts. Your participation helps us protect Botswana’s incredible wildlife and save lives on our roads.

This is a study being conducted jointly under the Okavango Research Institute a part of the University of Botswana and the University of New South Wales and funded by Inspiring African Travel.
